Let visitors in early ​

When you need this ​

A visitor often reaches the gate a little before the time their resident booked. You choose how many minutes before the visit starts a guard can check them in. It's 30 minutes until you change it. Set it to 0 if no one should get in before their visit starts.

Steps ​

  1. Open Settings, then Visitor check-in.
  2. Under Early check-in, in Let visitors in early (minutes before their visit starts), type the number of minutes, from 0 to 720 (12 hours). The screen explains: "Guards can check a visitor in up to this many minutes before the visit's start time. 0 lets no one in early."
  3. Click Save.

What you should see ​

  • A message saying Visitor check-in saved, and the field keeps the number you typed.
  • From then on, a guard can check a visitor in at the gate from that many minutes before the visit's start time. With 30, a visitor booked for 14:00 can be let in from 13:30.
  • A visitor who arrives earlier than that is still refused, and the guard sees when the visit starts and when the visitor can come in, for example "This visit starts on 31 Oct 2026, 23:00. The visitor can come in from 22:30." With 0, the guard sees only when the visit starts: "This visit starts on 31 Oct 2026, 23:00." Times are in the estate's time zone.

If something goes wrong ​

  • Couldn't load the visitor check-in settings: check your connection and click Try again.
  • Early check-in must be between 0 and 720 minutes.: the number is below 0 or above 720. Type a number from 0 to 720 and click Save again.
  • Enter the minutes, or 0 to let no one in early.: the field is empty. Type a number, or 0.
  • Enter whole minutes.: the number has a decimal point. Type whole minutes, such as 15 or 30.
  • Visitor check-in isn't on the Settings page: your role can't change it. Owners and admins can; ask an owner to add the permission to your role under Settings, Roles, in the Visitors and security area.
  • A guard says a visitor was refused although they were within the window: check the visit's date and start time on the visit itself. The window counts back from the start time the resident booked.
